Jessica Elder - September 23rd, 2011 Gold Coast Bulletin

POLICE are investigating a violent home invasion which took place at a Worongary property last night.

It is alleged three men entered the Mataranka Drive home shortly after 9pm, armed with a shovel, axe and pole.

The offenders fled in an unidentified car around 9.20pm.

Paramedics attended the address and treated a woman for head injuries.

A police spokeswoman said early investigations revealed items were stolen from the home.

Elderly Woman Sexually Assaulted
Mackenzie Ravn - June 19th, 2011 - Gold Coast Bulletin

POLICE are still on the hunt for a man who sexually assaulted a 94-year-old Gold Coast woman in her Mermaid Beach home on Friday night.

The woman remains in Gold Coast Hospital today in a stable condition.

Police are still not releasing details of the assault on the woman, who is described as frail and half-deaf.

At around 10pm on Friday a man, described as being 180cm tall with broad shoulders, entered her William Street residence by jimmying open the rear door.

The intruder allegedly fled the scene after the woman yelled to the neighbours for help.

Detective-Sergeant Rodney Seaman said police were investigating and at this stage there was no indication of theft or disturbance within the residence, although he refused to give further details.

''There are half a dozen police working on this case and we are treating it as very serious,'' he said.

William Street resident Julie Gulyas said she was devastated at what had happened.

''I am very surprised something like this would happen here, we have never had any trouble in this street,'' she said.

Neighbours have been unable to provide police with any further information.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw any suspicious activity in William Street or the Mermaid Beach area, to contact them via Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
